THE IONDJs JOURNEY: WHY WE STARTED, WHAT WE’RE BUILDING & WHERE WE’RE GOING
This is bigger than DJ bookings. It’s about bringing people together again.
There comes a point in any journey when you have to ask yourself a simple question:
Why are we doing this?
For IonDJs, the answer has never simply been about putting DJs on a stage.
It started with a belief that music still has the power to bring people together.
For decades, the rave and electronic music scene has given people something incredibly important: a place where they could forget their differences for a few hours, meet people they would never normally meet, dance together and feel that they belonged to something.
That feeling is what we wanted to bring back.
WHY IONDJs?
The idea behind IonDJs grew from years of experience within the DJ and rave world and from seeing how much talent exists within our community.
There are DJs with incredible ability who struggle to find opportunities.
There are promoters looking for the right people.
There are venues searching for new talent.
There are producers creating music that deserves to be heard.
And there are thousands of people who simply want to be part of the scene again.
We saw a gap between all of these people.
IonDJs was created to help close that gap.
WHEN DID THE JOURNEY BEGIN?
Our journey has its roots in a love of electronic music that stretches back decades.
From the early days of hip hop and electro through the rise of the rave movement and the unforgettable years of the early 1990s, music became more than entertainment.
It became culture, identity, friendship and freedom.
Those experiences never really leave you.
Years later, that passion became the foundation for what would eventually become IonDJs.
What began as a community built around the spirit of the rave scene has developed into something much broader — a platform designed to connect DJs, people, events, media and opportunities.
WHERE ARE WE DOING IT?
Our work has already begun here in the UK, building connections with DJs, promoters, venues and music communities.
But the vision was never intended to stop there.
IonDJs is being built with a global outlook.
As our journey develops, we're looking towards places including Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, China and beyond, meeting people, discovering music scenes, speaking to DJs and exploring how different communities experience electronic music.
We don't want to simply watch the world from behind a screen.
We want to go out and experience it.
HOW ARE WE BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER?
This is where Awakening – The Sound Within became so important to the journey.
Awakening wasn't created simply as another night.
The idea behind it was much deeper:
Give people somewhere to come together again.
A place where the music could be the common language.
A place where people could leave the pressures of everyday life outside the door.
A place where a DJ could stand in front of a crowd and simply play.
A place where strangers could become friends.
A place where people could remember why they fell in love with music in the first place.
That is what “The Sound Within” represents to us.
The sound isn't only coming from the speakers. It's coming from the people.
IT'S NOT ABOUT US — IT'S ABOUT THE PEOPLE
One of the biggest lessons we've learned on this journey is that IonDJs cannot be built around one person. It has to be built around a community.
Every DJ who joins, every person who supports us, every promoter who opens a door, every person who watches our videos, shares our posts or simply leaves a message becomes part of the story.
And that's why we're continuing to build. Not because we believe we have all the answers.
But because we believe something is missing when people stop connecting with one another.
THE NEXT CHAPTER
IonDJs Media Networking is the next step.
We're creating a place where people can discover opportunities, network, find media exposure, meet others within the industry and become part of a wider community.
And as IonDJs begins travelling internationally, creating interviews, filming experiences and meeting people across different music scenes, we want to take that community with us.
UK to Asia. Asia to the world.
Different countries.
Different cultures.
Different backgrounds.
Different sounds.
But one thing connecting them all: MUSIC.
WE ARE ONLY JUST GETTING STARTED
We know there will be challenges.
We know not every idea will work.
We know building something genuine takes time.
But we're prepared to keep going.
Because this journey was never about creating something that looks impressive from the outside.
It's about creating something that means something to the people inside it.
So perhaps the real question isn't:
“What is IonDJs?”
Perhaps the better question is:
“What could we build together?”
The answer is still being written.
And we'd like you to be part of it.
